PRIV TECH, INC. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Daisuke Nakamichi; hereinafter "Priv Tech"), a leader in the privacy tech field, announces the appointment of Mao Maebara as Head of Global Business Development, effective March 1, 2023, to further accelerate the company's compliance with global privacy-related laws.
■ Background of Appointment
In Japan, laws are being developed to protect consumer privacy, including the Amendment of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, which went into effect in April 2022, and the Revised Telecommunications Business Act, which is scheduled to go into effect by June of this year.
Meanwhile, in overseas, the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) was enforced in 2018, and the CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act; the revised CPRA was enforced on January 1, 2023) in 2020, earlier than in Japan. Additionally, countries around the world, such as China, Singapore, India, and Brazil, are beginning to enact privacy-related laws tailored to their respective countries.
Although it is very difficult for Japanese companies expanding overseas or, conversely, for foreign companies seeking to enter the Japanese market to properly comply with the laws and regulations of each country, the risk of penalty for non-compliance can be very expensive, and privacy in each country is a major issue for companies.
In order to assist such companies in complying with privacy-related laws in various countries, Priv Tech has been seeking partnerships with overseas privacy tech and legal support companies for some time.
To accelerate our partnering business with overseas companies, we have created the position of Global Business Development Manager. Ms. Mao Maebara, who has extensive knowledge of IT including SaaS, will assume the position of Global Business Development Manager. With a greater sense of urgency, we will support companies that are expanding overseas and overseas companies that are seeking to enter the Japanese market in complying with privacy-related laws.

Joined Innovation Inc. in April 2011, engaged in advertising sales of online media related to IT products for BtoB companies and sales of marketing automation tools. She joined Priv Tech in February 2023 and has been working on partnering with overseas privacy tech vendors. She also went to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil by herself from October 2017 to 2018 to dance samba, her hobby. She auditioned for local samba teams and was accepted by two strong teams. She has participated in Carnival in a dancer position called "passista." |
